There are not that many R. strigillosum hybrids, but here is one of the best. The plant flowers early, in February or March coming out with perfect ball trusses of blood red on a plant with long narrow leaves on hairy stems. However, it is one of the first to bloom, heralding the beginning the the rhododendron bloom.
