When I first saw this cultivar it was 100 feet away down in a shady garden, and it just glowed! I asked Nolan Blansit, the hybridizer, what he called it, and his name was perfect 'Neon'. I have since marveled at this hybrid with its attractive foliage, but more than special flowers. The plant will grow to 4 ft tall and 5 ft wide in 10 years and can take full sun, however a bit of shade will result a better plant. This cultivar is not terribly hardy...best conclusion would be to 0 degrees. Because this rhododendron is hard to find and propagate, we have placed it in the Rare category. Be the first in your neighborhood to have a 'Neon' rhododendron! Exotic!
