Unique for its bright blue spring color, which later turns to green, giving the tree a two-toned effect...very lovely in any garden. Originating from seed sourced in Afghanistan, where many understock nurseries obtain their seed, and selected by the Gunter Horstmann Nursery in Germany. This would mean it is a 'sport' from seed. The selection was made in the 1970's, and is still in demand today. It is a larger growing selection, becoming 10 ft. tall and 6 ft. wide in 10 years. Karl Fuchs is the name of the plant explorer who collected the seed.
