Wistaria frutescens var. macrostachya ‘Aunt Dee’
The native wisteria of Kentucky is a wonderful alternative to the Chinese and Japanese wisterias in that it is less exuberant, and will never become invasive. This cultivar 'Aunt Dee' is hardier and more tolerant of wet soils, adding to its usefulness. A great choice for an arbor, trellis, or even as a free standing tree. The flowering display happens from spring to summer with hanging clusters of purple or lilac-blue flowers...and they are fragrant! Our plants are dense, strong and between 4 and 5 feet tall.
