I call this the 'patriotic hydrangea', because when in full bloom it is red, white and blue. Spectacular! And, the colors are revealed in stages. First there is white, then the sterile florets come out blue, then the fertile florets become pink on white. The plant grows to at least 6 ft tall and wide in 10 years. Noted author Michael Dirr lists this plant as a cultivar of H. serrata.
