New from the late August Kehr, this magnolia is on many gardener's 'Best Of' list. The tree grows to 10 ft tall but narrow, and blooms late in the season (May) so as to avoid loss of flowers from frost. The flowers are a deep yellow with a bit of pink/purple at the base, are quite large, reaching up to 7 inches in diameter. Hardy to -20 deg F, and reputed to be one of the best yellow flowering Magnolias available today. Will thrive in full sun or part shade. 'Sunsation' in full bloom will cause quite a stir in the neighborhood, and if planted in mass will knock off socks.
