R. sinogrande

With the largest leaves of all of the rhododendrons, R. sinogrande will add a 'tropical' feeling to any garden that can grow it.  After 8 years, the leaves will be 12" wide and 3 feet long.  The flowers are a cream color with a purple/black throat, but will take 8-10 years to first appear.  Native to the Himalayan range in China, Tibet and upper Burma. Pictured Mike and Maria Stewart of Dover Rhododendron Nursery.

Rare Variety – This variety is difficult to find anywhere due to these reasons
·        Hard to propagate – many cultivars do not root easily from cuttings, but at a reduced rate thus making the plant rare.
·        Hard to find – these cultivars are hard to find in the first place, probably because they are hard to root from cuttings
