Sand-myrtle is an unusual low growing shrub that is related to Kalmia, and is native to low mountains in North Carolina, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Very small leaves are dark-green and pointed on a low growing shrub, to 2 ft tall. The tiny white flowers have pink pistils making a sparkling display.
