Found by the late Joseph Reis of Long Island, New York. This unusual Hinoki Cypress grows more upright with very short horizontal branches that develop congested growth, forming clump-like pads. The plant will grow tall if a central leader develops, but will stay more compact if such a leader is pruned out. This photo is of the original plant in Mr. Reis's garden in New York, and is quite old. A "must have" for the dwarf Hinoki collector.
