Deep purple-blue flowers cover this somewhat hardy dwarf rhododendron in March-April. The small leaves remind most of an azalea, but it is a true rhododendron species. The plant will be 3 ft tall and wide in 10 years. Narrow medium green leaves are a characteristic of this species, and will differentiate it from other purple flowering dwarfs. Hardy to -10 deg F.
