Picea orientalis 'Mt. Vernon' Useful for smaller gardens, this tidy form of Oriental Spruce is one of the best. The plant will grow wider than tall with dense, dark-green foliage in a 'nest form'. Originally found by the Wells Nursery in Washington State, then introduced to the nursery trade in 1972. Over time it will produce cones decorating the plant. Will be 2 ft tall and 3 ft wide over time, and displays small copper buds at the ends of the branches in spring. Hardy to zone 5.
