Hybridized and registered by the late Dr. Halvor Braafladt in Eureka, California, this exotic R. nuttallii hybrid rhododendron boasts of HUGE 6" cup-shaped FRAGRANT flowers with pink stripes along the outside and a butter yellow throat. The flowers open in late April or early May in groups of 5-6 from fat goose-egg sized buds. The foliage is large and heavily textured, adding to the tropical aire. This plant is quite tender and only hardy to +20 degrees F., but for those who can grow it, a treasure it truly is.
Rare Variety – This variety is difficult to find anywhere due to these reasons
- These tender varieties are rare because they do not have a wide enough audience due to their lack of hardiness and are overlooked by the big growers.
- Singing Tree Gardens has made these rare varieties our passion and remain committed to producing them for future generations. Currently we are the only source in the USA for these tender, FRAGRANT plants.
