Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for its outstanding qualities, this winter blooming Scottish heath is one of the darkest red flowering there is. Opening January to May, the heliotrope to magenta and even ruby-red flowers bloom heavily for weeks. The plant grows to 8 inches tall and 18 inches wide. Over time it will become a dense ground cover that can choke out weeds. Part shade is welcomed in hot summer areas. Very dark-green foliage.
