Lovely lemon-yellow flowers, occasionally double, cover this new low grower in April every year. The foliage is very dark green and bullate, adding to this "species looking" plant. This Premium rhododendron was created by crossing R. 'Creamy Chiffon' x R. degronianum ssp. yakushimanum, Exbury form. One attribute of R. 'Creamy Chiffon' is that it has semi-double, hose-in-hose flowers, and this has been partially passed on to R. 'Lemon Dream'. Most of the flowers are single, but perhaps as many as 1/3 are hose-in-hose, adding to the charm. Because of its 5 Star qualities, and because it is hard to find and propagate, we have placed this cultivar in the PREMIUM category.
Hybridized by Steve McCulloch of Olympia, Washington, this new yellow is a MUST HAVE!
