Called the Japanese Plume Cedar, this fast growing upright tree of juvenile foliage turns burgundy-purple in winter, but is more green in summer. This cultivar was given to Veitch Nursery in Holland by TH. Lobb in 1866. This tree makes an excellent hedge or windbreak as it is wind and salt tolerant. We like to plant this form and the lime green form 'Elegans Aurea' in group plantings for wonderful contrast.
