The name is appropriate. This heather goes from a lovely golden color in summer to a loud red-orange in winter, drawing the eye in any garden. The plant grows low, only 6 inches tall, but spreads fully to 20 inches wide. The flowers appear in July to September and are a lovely mauve lavender. This is one of heather collector's favorites.
