It is unusual to have a deep red flowering camellia that has fragrance, but here it is! This mid winter flowering shrub likes growing in partially shaded exposure, but in coastal mild areas can do fine in full light. The flowers are very ruffled, peony-form, and about 5 inches across. The golden-yellow stamens add interest as well. This one can get big growing to 8 ft tall and wide. The foliage is very dark-green and glossy. Hardy to zone 7.
