Acer palmatum 'Van den Akker'
The spring color on this interesting dissectum Japanese maple is a dark chocolate-red that holds into late summer, and into the fall. The plant is a slow-growing mounder that perfers full sun or partial shade and well drained soil. It will be 2 ft tall and 4 ft wide in 10 years, and is hardy to zone 5. The fall color display is bright yellow-orange that really lights up a dark corner. The name is Dutch and means "from the farmland".
