The leaves on this unusual Japanese Maple look more like hair than leaves, and in fact, these are the thinnest leaves of any Japanese Maple. The 'Fairy Hair' starts out a light green, shading darker green throughout the summer, then turning a crimson red in autumn. The tree grows slowly, as there is less chlorophyll than in most other cultivars. Useful in bonsai as it can be small and look old. Keep out of windy and blasting sun areas, as this one needs some protection from the elements. Hardy to zone 6.
