Abies nordmaniana 'Petra'
Rare, Caucasian fir from Poland that was discovered by Mr Holata near the villiage of Pruhonice in the Czech Republic. A miniature conifer that will only grow to be 4 inches tall and 12 inches across in 10 years. The form is called a 'flattened ball'. Over time it will grow wider than tall. Bright green new growth in the spring. Looking for 'witches brooms' in the Czech Republic is very popular, and I hear stories that the collectors shoot the brooms off of the large forest trees, then graft them onto the understock.
