Commonly known as the Trident maple, as the leaves have 3 forward-facing lobes resembling a trident. It is a small to medium sized tree from Asia with a rounded, branching form and great fall colors of yellows, oranges and reds. This is an easy tree to grow, being tolerant of wind, salt, drought, and poor soil. If given full sun and well drained soil with some organic matter, it will be very happy. It is often used in bonsai, so those that want to try their hand at it, this would be a good one to start with. Hardy to zone 5.
